Filter cadence

Desert dust means more frequent changes than the box suggests for humid climates. Write the date on the filter frame.

Outdoor clearance

• Keep shrubs trimmed so the condenser can breathe.
• Rinse leaves and dust from the fins gently with a hose — no high pressure that folds fins.

Drain line

Know where the condensate terminates. If you've had overflows before, ask a contractor about preventive clearing on a tune-up visit.

Shade and pads

Units in full west sun run hotter. Shade structures must not block airflow; ask a pro before building one.
